About this forum
Bass Boat Owners Forum opened in November 2025 for people who own a fiberglass bass boat, want one, or keep somebody else's running, and who got tired of asking a jack plate question on a page full of kayak videos.
That means Ranger, Skeeter, Nitro, Phoenix, Bass Cat, Triton and the rest of them, with whatever is hanging off the back: a Mercury Pro XS, a Yamaha SHO, an old OptiMax that still runs. A 2008 boat on its third owner and a new Z521R get the same answers here.
It is run by Curtis H., who posts as mod_curtis_h. Curtis taught high school ag for 26 years in Pope County, Arkansas, coached the school's bass fishing team for the last eight of them, and has fished club tournaments on Dardanelle and the Arkansas River since the late nineties. He runs a 2018 Phoenix 819 Pro with a 250 Pro XS. He reads the contact mailbox himself, and he is slow about it on tournament weekends.
What it costs
The server is about ten dollars a month and the domain was twelve for the year. Curtis pays both. There are no ads on any page, no affiliate codes in any link, and nobody has paid for a thread or a place in one. If that changes it will say so here first.
House rules
- Hull, year and motor in every question. A 2016 Z518 with a 200 is a different boat from a 2022 Z520R with a 250, and the prop answer changes.
- No naming somebody else's spots on their home lake. Main lake point, secondary point, back of a creek is plenty.
- Say what you paid in buying threads. A mod will ask if you leave it out.
- If you work for a dealer, a builder, a marina, a lender or an auction, say so in your posts.
- No classifieds and no selling boats in threads. Linking a public listing to make a point about price is fine.
- Be decent about other people's brands. The SHO people and the Pro XS people launch at the same ramp.
- Mods move posts to the right board and leave a note. Threads get locked rarely, with the reason written in them.
What this is not
Not a dealer, not a marina and not the owner's manual. When somebody here gives you a water pressure number or a torque spec, check it against the manual for your own motor before you trust a 70 mph run to it.
